About the event
Speaker: Keiran Nicholas Smith, Co-Founder & CEO of Mr.Green Africa
Mr. Green Africa as a best practice to show how a localized & closed-loop plastic value chains in Emerging markets works, while creating long term benefits for the local economy.
Mr. Green Africa is a Nairobi-based collecting, sorting, and recycling company that produces high-quality recycled plastics in and for East Africa while achieving tangible social and environmental impacts. Its materials are fairly traded with a traceable social and environmental impact.Â
Mr. Green Africa provides monetary incentives to marginalized waste pickers by offering premium prices for the plastics they collect. Mr. Green Africa believes in the importance of localized value chains with clear and long term benefits from the sustainability angle. Therefore they supply to a local and regional customer base, enabling them to achieve their circular economy goals.
